Process

How a translation order works

Each order at Babylon Translations passes through seven stages, from the first request to delivery. The stages follow the agency's ISO 17100 certified process.

Request

The client sends the files to office@babylon-translations.com with the source and target languages, the variant, the intended use and the required date. The contact page lists what to include.

Result

Files and brief received by a project manager.

Analysis and quote

The project manager checks the volume, file format, subject field and repeated content, and prepares a written quote with a delivery date.

Result

A written quote and a delivery date confirmed in writing.

Preparation

Glossaries, earlier translations and reference material are loaded into the CAT tool. The translator and the reviser are chosen by language pair and field.

Result

A prepared project with agreed terminology.

Translation

A specialist translator who works into their mother tongue translates the text. Questions about the source text are collected and sent to the client.

Result

A complete translation.

Revision

A second linguist compares the translation with the source for accuracy, terminology and style, as ISO 17100 requires.

Result

A revised translation.

Quality checks

Dedicated software checks numbers, tags, terminology and consistency; proofreaders make the final check of the file in its delivery format.

Result

A checked file ready for delivery.

Delivery and follow-up

The translation is delivered in the agreed format. If the client raises a justified remark, the agency corrects the translation.

Result

The final translation and, where needed, corrections.

Durations depend on volume, subject and language combination and are confirmed in writing in each quote.

Questions

Questions about
the order process

What is needed to start a translation order?

The files, the source and target languages (with the variant, for example English UK or US), the intended use, the required date and any reference material such as glossaries or earlier translations.

When is the delivery date confirmed?

With the quote. Under the general terms, deadlines are valid once Babylon Translations has confirmed them in writing.

What happens if a correction is needed after delivery?

For justified remarks, the agency first has the opportunity to correct the translation. The client may cancel the contract only if the correction is unsuccessful.

When are invoices due?

Within 30 days of issue. Discounts apply only when explicitly agreed, and the payment terms are set out in the general business terms.
